Oh the sweet aroma

So back when I first bought my camera (about 2 months ago) I decided to set up some shots. I sat in my room thinking of what I could do and suddenly got the idea of a wooden spoon with syrup spilling from it. I then set up a white backdrop, found whatever supports I could for the spoon, and found a nice cold bottle of syrup. Here is the result:

Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire


I guess my questions would be:
What do you like and/or dislike about this photo?
What could I change to make this picture better?

I am new to this forum and have not much experience (yet!). Still I wanted to say it's a nice photo.

By the way why don't you try to take the same photo but with the wooden spoon oblique ? So that we can better see the "pool" of syrup before it falls?

Really like the idea behind it, and the falling syrup looks really cool. However, i would have drawn the background tighter so there isnt any creases, as they are a bit distracting. Also, maybe a black background would be better for this shot, as the colour of the spoon is quite close to the background, so there isnt much tonal range.
