Whether or not it is macro depends on how large the subject is compared to the sensor size. Purists argue that the ratio should be 1:1 (eg. something 25mm across will fill the viewfinder if the sensor is 25mm wide, which is about average for many DSLRs). However, many manufacturers fudge the issue by selling "macro" lenses that only get 1:2 or less so the term is now fairly loose for most people.
I suspect your image is more what would be called "close-up" but that's near enough for this section. What camera and settings did you use? That helps people give suggestions and comments that are feasible for you to put into practise. Wulf |

Well.. Like I said, I don't know much about the settings I used, I kind of just go shoot and if it looks good, it looks good. On this photo however I used my 50mm f/1.8 lens, but placed it on automatic instead of manual and on the camera I used the A-DEP setting, which I have no idea what it is, but it seems to give a soft warm feeling to a lot of my photos that I shoot in manual modes.
Exposure, and stuff like that... I don't even really know how to customize on the camera yet. Unfortunately I don't know any of that info. Sorry!

Have a look at the tutorials on this site to learn about exposure etc - once you get the hang of it you can really have loads of fun

Thanks, Wulf |
