Is it a succulent? I see a stylishly cut radish.
But either way, the hollows and translucent quality appeal to me. I like the photo as posted.

It's unique and I like that. I haven't seen pink/red edged succulent leaves that I'm aware of before and the abstract diagonals seem to work. Good job

Looking at this prompted me to try and identify what plant this is (curiosity gets me sometimes). The closest I could find are:
Cotyledon macrantha - The 'Paddle Plant' has large bright green rounded leaves with deep magenta margins. Stout trunk. Height to 90cm. Orange to red flowers in winter. (South Africa). Sun/part sun. Crassula arborescens 'Blue Bird' - ‘Silver Dollar Jade ‘. Thick tree-like trunk to 1m. Silver-grey rounded leaves with reddish dots and edges. Clusters of star-shaped white or pink flowers in winter. Excellent bonsai. (Morocco). Sun/part sun. Kalanchoe thyrsifolia - 'Flap Jacks'. Large flat oval diagonally-placed leaves coated with a soft white powder. Develops a stunning red hue in winter when grown in the sun and kept dry. Creamy white flowers. Sun/part sun. I couldn't find any white succulents with pink/red edges that matched the rounded, thin leaf style, so these were the closest. Some pictures attached, all found from The Succulent Garden nursery:: Succulents :: Adromischus When your cutting gets going take some more pictures! I love succulent plants!

I like the shot very much. I also find myself taking photos like thid one and the one thing I would try is to work with lighting. I think this image can pop more if you could figure out a better way to light it with either natural light, flash, or bounced light! Just my opinion, since I find myself in the same predicament! x

This is truly a macro shot - not just a close-up photo. In my humble opinion, a macro shot requires explanation because it is shot so close to the subject that it is not easily identifiable. I believe you accomplished this.
The red and the angle of the leaves add interest to the photo. I'd also be interested to see some different lighting effects but I think it works quite well as it is. |
