Default Chess - Path of the Pawns

Hey,
I really like the idea of this picture, but it seems almost hazy. I did this in my bedroom with a towel and some lamps, but I still need some tips on how to perfect my shot so I can go back and redo it better than before.
Thank you for helping me.

Also please share with me how to get the photo to show up without using a link.
Thank you.

I would love to help you more (as would others) but first we need to see a photo!
Can you tell us what you are using to post your picture? The code isnt working so nothing is coming up. Do you have a Flickr account?
Please also try and post your exif information. Knowing the settings your camera was on when you took the photo is imperative for offering you suggestions in bettering your photographs.
If you need more help, send me a pm and I will be more than happy to try and help.

the focal point doesn't seem quite as sharp as it should; also, I might have done the lighting different so the brighter background would be behind the black pieces instead of the white pieces.

Thank you. You have a very valid point that I didn't think of, even though it should have been obvious to me. Thank you.

I would agree with this.

Also, it looks like you have some chromatic aberration on the right side of the white pawn in the foreground. A little time in Photoshop - or something similar - would fix that, though.

Looking at it again, maybe it's not. Last night when I saw it, it looked like you were getting a yellow and blue halo around some of the edges.

Does anyone else see any aberration?

Chromatic aberration appears when you see fringes of color along edges of objects in your photo.

It is an interesting idea. I'm a bit puzzled by the setting syou hav echosed to use. The DOF looks very shallow for the narrow aperture you used. Are you sure it was f/16? If it were me I would open the lens as much as possible so you can shoot with a faster shutter and drop the ISO to 100 to reduce noise.
