Default Pink Flower - DOF?

pink_flower_0139
200mm, F/5.6, 1/80s, ISO-100

I like this shot fairly well, but I'm not sure I'm happy with the DOF or the composition. I wish the larger flower in the middle-left was more in focus, and the flower in the bottom right less. I dunno, what do you folks think?

Also: maybe flip it horizontally?

Default Depth of Focus

Hi Chalks,

Overall, it seems you have a good goal in mind. A blurry background is always a plus when taking Macro and Close Up shots. However, if you were to decrease your depth of field, I think it would greatly improve the picture. The flower in the back left seems to be the one in focus.

In other words, step down your f-stop.

If you could provide what type of camera you have, that would help more.

Hope that helps.

James

I would try to crop out just top-left flower (with drops) in square format... At the moment composition just "don't work".

I think it the composition is wrong and I've then attached a link which could help you.

Another idea might be to increase the depth of field to get all 3 flowers in focus (and make sure the background is far enough away that it remains blurry). Next time you could also physically move distracting elements (like the flower at bottom right) out of the photo.
have fun!
