Hi all,

I guess The Notebook was not an interesting photo, since I got no reply, so I will try my luck with another macro from the other day. I'd like to hear critique in general, composition, lighting and I'd like to know if the signature makes any difference. Thanks!

Hi
Composition wise i think its a good concept, persoanlly i think it could do with cropping on the r/h side, take out the first doll with the overexposed highlights and maybe half of the second doll, this would bring the eyes of the dolls in focus a bit closer to the top r/h side.
The lighting seems a little warm to me, not sure if that was what you were aiming for in the shot.
Also there's a weird green line in the bottom left side, could be a reflection of something.

I think that the notebook photo was great. The color tones and the signature made the photo look more professional.

This photo with the dolls is less crisp to me. I agree about the lower rh corner dolls and the over exposure. I would suggest taking this photo again with a different light source or work on the WB to get less orange. Again, the signature does make the photo seem more professional, however I enjoyed the notebook one more.

The only other thing I would change is maybe moving the angle to run left to right (flip the image). That would probably help the eye move along your line.

Overall I like your style!

Thanks so much for the critique. It is very encouraging when you are a beginner and you hear some good words regarding your work, and then it is very helpful to hear some suggestions and different opinions

Here's what I did following your advises. Did the photo improve? In my opinion yes, but maybe I could do better with PP?

And these are some other photos of the same dolls, but different compositions and angles. I would love to hear some opinions, which one is the best? Thanks!
