Default "abstract nature" flower

flower-natural

I took this photo a few days ago when I saw just one random yellow flower in my back yard. I just began shooting a few months ago and would love ANY critique. If I were to crop the photo, where would you suggest to crop to get the most out of focus placement (rule of thirds)? Here's the specs of the photo:

Date Taken: June 17, 2009 6 or 7pm
Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT
Lens: Canon 50mm
Exposure: 1/650s
Aperture: f/1.8
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 800

Thanks!!

I really like the minimalist composition. I wouldn't call this abstract -- it's clear and realistic -- but it is definitely minimalist.

As far as a critique, I'm noticing some noise -- probably from working at ISO 800. Do you have a reason for going that high? Using f/1.8 is a good choice, but your shutter speed was way up at 1/650 -- you could easily have lowered to ISO 200 and shot at 1/160, and still gotten a good, clear photo with less noise.

Thanks,

The ISO was at 800 because it was really shady where I was, but when I moved angles I brought more light into the lens. I'm still getting the skill to view the photo on the camera while shooting to make adjustments.

Is there a way to reduce noise in photoshop post production?

I would have taken more photos today after reviewing and editing but a rabbit ate the flower last night!

I love the halo kind of effect around the flower. And it looks beautiful..
