jujitsu,

TahDah! It's hard to say why some comments go where they go, and skip over some threads.

This is not a Macro. It is a closeup, which we include if it's nearly Macro, so this section can have a reasonable amount of posters. The little yellow bits in the very center of the rose (and of the photo) would be a Macro.

While lighting and composition are fairly subjective, I'll say the tone of all the surrounding petals seems subdued, greyed, as if through a vignette. Some side lighting might improve their color. The center one-third is a delight - by itself that's a tasty bit of photography. Subtle yellow and pink, very nice.

Composition - are the red rose buds there naturally? They really take attention away from the main subject, but are too small to add much to the photo. I'd even go so far as to say a square crop - no buds, more light - would improve the overall look here.

Your watermark in that position is so easily PPed out, it might be the last thing eliminated here that would give the shot a chance at happiness - and more comments. Hope your disappointment at no comments is lessened some, and that this serves as a catylast.

Hi there.

About being macro or not, you already got an answer. Now, related to the composition, well, something is lacking.

Disagreeing with the sanbaldo, i think its a beautiful flower. Im not mentioning the buds. As jiminy said, not adding.

However you could have gotten so much closer to the flower. It seems there is a complex and interesting pattern between the petals, as there are also some beautiful and soft colors.

If you cant shoot again (try with more light, so you can reduce ISO), crop the pic, showing mostly the "beautiful" part of the flower.

Cheers.
