Hi

I'm currently reading this book on composition:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Photographer...4886291&sr=1-1

so I'd particularly like some feedback on the composition of this shot.

I've attempted to use the lightsabres to create a frame for the figures face. Her body is facing away from the space to the right, but I kind of feel the framing offsets this.

The bands of dark and blue colour where purposely placed behind her head and body. They are the same colour as the body and arms of the figure. Does this detract from the picture, maybe because her arm doesn't stand out against the pale blue, or does it give a connection to the background which was the intent.

Thanks

malcyL, Welcome

I'm wondering if you've tried the same shot, leaving the empty space on the left, just to see what difference it would make. Have you considered lightening the blue arm a little to stand out from the b/g? Or darken/desaturate the blue in the b/g? I might have tried to aim a very small bright beam of light on the sabre rods too, for a dramatic effect. It's a good shot, basically.

My opinion is that vivid background drags too much attention. Maybe you could try to overexpose background.
