Default Yep, another flower - My first w/ new A300

I have a lot to learn about photography, but this is an early shot with the new camera...Not really a macro, just close up...



Camera: Sony DSLR-A300
Exposure: 0.013 sec (1/80)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off

Not bad for a first attempt, keep an eye out for the backgrounds tho, the out of focus rose to the right of the picture is a slight distraction. Nice use of the light creating shadows.
It is all down to practice, try different angles and time of day to get some interesting results.

I was trying to get the best angle I could find, and I do see how the blurry flower to the right could distract...Thanks for the tip!

Hi RSCDoug - I just wanted to say that I have the same camera and I really love it. If you want to invest in lenses in the future I recommend Minolta 70-210 mm f/4.0 also called Beercan, it does wonders!!! Re: your photo - IMO this is one of the flowers most difficult to photograph and I think you didn't do to bad but in the future watch out for those harsh shadows.

Not bad. Just a little cropping to remove minor distractions. Good DoF too with 50mm focal length and f/5.6 aperture.
