Default Delicious stawberries

After feeling like I can't take good shots of people for a while, I decided to try my luck on some fruit. I tried to take pictures with a white background, but I only have one lamp so it's almost impossible not to have shadows. Black was much easier, although I'm not sure if it looks as proffesional.

This is one of the best I took. I think these stawberries look so delicious! (and they were) However I don't like that the left stawberry is the smallest and the one on the right is the biggest, and that there's not much shadow below the one on the right.

I would be really interested to hear your thoughts. Am I on the right track? Does this look a bit proffesional, and what would make it better?

Looking forward to your replies, thanks!

Steffie

(There are more pictures on flickr, also of some peppers and white backgrounds)

Nice capture! I love the deep DOF of this picture.
And just in time for this week's assignment: Ghetto Lighting + Reflector!
Keep it coming.

The shot looks fine to me. I would have captured a litle more of the shadow for all the strawberries. Also, it looks slightly tilted to the right (or is it my viewing problem?)

I think it looks tilted because the right strawberry is so big

Do you mean I should have taken in more of the shadows or that the shadows should have been brighter? I like the position of the shadows but think the right strawberry should have as much of a shadow as the left one...

Would you say it's best to try again to make it perfect? (I enjoy taking shots like this so I probably will anyway.. I ate these though so I need to buy more)

IMO a little bit more of the shadows would have been good, say half a strawberry in the shadow part. I agree that the shadows for all the strawberries should be almost the same.

If you have the option, try experimenting with the strawberries placed in different orientation (say three below, and one on top, and so on).

I like this shot a lot, I had left a comment on your flickr account saying that when I first saw this.

nice shot i like the contrast with black background and the little reflection on bottom. Only thing that I've found is the right strawberry bit not as red as the two others, which can make the the picture more attractive and the strawberries more delicious.

Thanks for the comments, and Trader, thanks for the comment on flickr!

Sounds like I am on the right tracks, with some more tips on how to do it better next time.

I tried again yesterday, but the strawberries were much smaller, and I didn't really get any more good images. I'll have to try again when I feel more relaxed.
