Hey guys just wanted to say thanks for clicking on this thread and having a look. I'm lacking really in my macro shots but I still try my best at any rate. This is the most recent macro shot I've taken and I need to see how I can improve my macro photography a little further. What can I do to increase depth of field? Or should my composition be a little creative?
I'm kind of confused about it all but hopefully the wonderful people of DPS can hopefully guide me ![]() http://rameez-k.deviantart.com/art/Rain-Drops-122684236 - I'm not sure if the image will come up so this is just incase |

Welcome to DPS,
To have a good critique we need to know what your EXIF files are specially on the kind of questions you have. Here they are: Model: FinePix S5700 S700 Shutter Speed: 100/5000 second F Number: F/3.5 Focal Length: 6 mm ISO Speed: 64 Date Picture Taken: May 16, 2009 I find your shot interesting and the angle is verry nice. I don`t know how much control you may have over this camera in a manual mode but to get more DOF, you need a smaller aperture meaning larger F number, this will also increase your exposure time to have a nice exposed shot. It is important to have your hands on a tripod to have a sharp picture and also use a remote or timer trigger to have no movement and a clear picture. overall, i think you did a great job on this one.

Yeah I realise that I need a smaller apeture number in order to get a more depth of field but unfortunately with this camera I'm limited to a f/ of 3.5 which is the maximum that it can go. I was using a tripod for this shot and I used a 2 second timer to make sure that there was no shake. I guess the only real thing I can do is maybe try see if i can get add on lenses with larger focal points.
Thanks for your help

Somehow i doubt that the smallest aperture would be F3.5 because this is fairly large, i would say wide open. A small Aperture would be in the range of f11 or f16 or even more depending on the camera.
