T.R.R.,

The first yellow rose you posted on Flickr could easily be made into an off-centered fairly good shot, mostly by color enhancement and a small crop. This last one is getting away from that quality. The blurred edges especially seem like experimenting, not so much improving. Are there any more roses around to start over on?

The clarity/ DOF is better on the first. The rose is better in the second. Combine the two and you've got it.

I should be able to get one tomarrow, and try again. Would it be okay to continue to post the pics? That way we can see the changes.

T.R.R.,

Yes, repost changes for sure. That lets us know you're willing to experiment, and also lets us see if our advice does indeed help you improve the image.

If you take a completely new photo, you might get better response from a new thread. Call it "Flame Painted Rose II" and we'll know it's the next phase of the experiment!
