Default Dewy grapeleaf

Looking for critique with regards to composition. I know it breaks the rule of thirds, but does it work anyway?

Dewy Grapeleaf

Camera: Canon PowerShot A720 IS
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture: f/3.2
Focal Length: 8.3 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0/3 EV
Flash: Flash did not fire

Thanks!

The leaf and drops in the foreground are cool, but imho the background is too busy and distracting from that leafe with blown out sky, another leaf, part of a vine that is in/out of focus, etc.

My biggest downfall still....too much going on in the background! I need to pay more attention when I compose my shots. Thanks again!

I have to agree. I see the leave on the right, then then oof stick, then the sharper leaf and finally the drops. It IS framed well, btw, if the background were a bit better. Perhaps a lot of cloning and healing and smudging are in order?

I'll challenge myself to try your suggestions and repost the results.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

SamuraiZenU,

Think "exercise." Be prepared to approach a subject from any side, top, bottom, at any angle, to put a great background behind your subject. You're shooting with the same approximate settings as I use, so I believe it's all about where you point the lens.

For this shot, you would have gotten more subject/less background by going portrait orientation.
