Default Cockatiel thoughts

One of my three birds, this one is not fidgety around a camera. Taken in the afternoon sun through a window.

POPPY

The photo is uncropped, it's how I originally framed it. Suggestions on light and post-editing? I have a feeling it's over saturated.

Hi ctnfeathers:
What a cute bird! I like the shot as it is. Sure some levels, high pass filter maybe and curves will enhance it but the main and hard work is already done! I like the way the bird is captures (half face), not sure if other members will like it, but I do.
Thanks for sharing it!

Wow! the bird is so beautiful! Seems to look very interested at you.
I would suggest you adjust the levels and reduce the whites in RGB, that will probably make the colours warmer, and reduce the blue as well, as there is a blue tinge on the beak and left egde of the body.

Thanks for sharing

ctnfeathers, Welcome

Different is one thing, different and well done is another. Showing personality is difficult, and with animals, tough. You got both things in this shot, and it is as good technically as one might want. The forehead and cheek have a little loss of detail in the feathers from either overexposure or oversaturation. So? You got the important part, the rest is adjustable. You can do this again with an eye towards the technical and have a winner in anyone's judgement.

I was given a baby cockatiel to handfeed in '98, and saw that personality thing up close. They are great models; hope to see more.
