Default Four O'Clock

I am new to photography and thought this was a good shot for one of my first serious shots. How could it have been improved? I did not edit this at all.

Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 51 mm

vjc724, Welcome

Thanks for a neat post. That's helpful to Critiquers, and saves us time.

I'd be OK having this in my viewfinder, but would have moved back just a little to include all the main bloom, and place the bud in a less constricted corner. Beautiful color (cloudy day?) and interesting depth of field. I would be careful about focusing: the closest petal is very OOF, and distracts because it is in front. If you can go to f/8 or above, you will more likely get all the bloom in focus.

Just feels tight in the frame.
