Can anybody give me ANY feedback? This is my second time to post a photograph on this forum looking for pointers on how I can improve, last time I got one critique, this time none

I'm trying desperately to improve, but without honest feedback from experienced photographers, its very difficult to know what works, what doesnt, what I need to change, and how I go about it. I am a TOTAL beginner, only started a month ago.

Please help me to learn.......

Hi!

If this was mine, I would probably make the zipper on the left to be more focused and the rest would be blurry. I am looking at the picture and the one on the right is somewhat distracting. As for lighting, I like it. Is this pic going to be a stockphoto?

Thank you SO much for replying, I really appreciate it

I played with focusing on each of the three zips, I do have other combinations, but for some reason preferred this one. Time to go digging through the others again with a fresh eye!

Oh and no, not a stock photo, it was just for fun, I do some costume making as another hobby, these were in my sewing cupboard

I think if you asked for critique about a certain element of the shot, you may get more and faster feedback, such as "how is the composition, lighting, etc". I feel like it is underexposed and there should be a little more than just the zipper pull on the left in focus.

Your shooting a still life, why are you at ISO 400? Go as low as your camera goes.

I think it is a touch under exposed in the background, it just seems too dark. Perhaps if the background had more texture it might help but it just feels like zippers in sopace, the lines and fold of the cloth might be nice to see.

There is not alot of emotion in zippers to begin with, so the point of the photo is a little lost on ME, but my eye cannot tell if the zipper on the left is the subject or the horizontal zipper across the bottom is the subject.

Fair enough, but its difficult to ask for critique on certain elements, when chances are there are a myriad of areas that I can improve on. So I was hoping for exactly the kind of comments yourself and bigben gave me, regarding exposure, light, and the ISO.

I shall keep on trying, keep on experimenting, and keep on reading your critiques of other peoples photos, learning from them. Perhaps its just way too soon for me to be asking for advice at all I apologise for wasting your time.
