Default Macro flower

would like technical critique and also advice on composition. first week with my new macro lens. thank you!

was wondering why you might have left so much room behind the flower but cut off part of the front?

was mainly trying to make the picture more interesting to the eye.
ive just started a night photography class so hopefully i will pick up some things on technique and composition.

I kind of like it - it feels like the flower is just arriving on the scene or maybe leaving it..

I think your focus is off, or the wind was moving the flower. You've over-saturated the pic imo. Are you using a tripod and a remote or timer delay? Lock your mirror to prevent vibration too.

i use a tripod. do not have a remote or anything of that sort.
it was definately windy and cold that day.
and i have no idea what you mean by "locking the mirror"..could you give a little more info on that please?

You have a 60D right?

Start on page 125 or just search the document for mirror lockup

You will need a faster shutter speed if there is any wind.
