Default Holiday bokeh

This is my first attempt at capturing bokeh. Is my color and lighting correct? I'm new to photography and just want to learn. Any and all critiques are welcome.

Camera--Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi
Exposure--3.2
Aperture--f/5.6
Focal Length--50 mm
ISO Speed--100

I love the bokeh, but I think your subject is underexposed.

Love the Bokeh also! it is a great subject but yes you could have used a bit more light. I tried to lighten it a bit in elements to see what it would look like but a raw imiage is really best to do this with.
Keep shooting and posting!! Great job!

I am new to the forum, but enjoy photography. To lighten the front of the angel, you might try a piece of white posterboard, or a piece of alum foil mounted on a card. You could experiment with size of reflector to illuminate without a blinding flash.

Nice shot. I was wondering if spot metering would have solved the underexposure?

Not really. Since the background is well-exposed, raising the exposure by metering from a darker area would have blown out the background. What you need to do is either add light on the front of the subject or blend two or more exposures.

Thanks for all the input. I'll be sure to employ this in my next efforts.
