Default Surfboard Process

DSC_0046

This is a close up of a surfboard that is in the process of having the fiberglass and resin applied.

Is the board overexposed?
Too much contrast with the dark background? or does it help the drop to be seen?
Please give any additional critique you have.

Camera Nikon D60
Exposure 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture f/5.3
Focal Length 40 mm
ISO Speed 100
Flash Auto, Fired, Return detected

Thanks,

Default not too much contrast

Personally I think the contrast is fine, and the dark background helps make the drops more visible.
I would leave it just as it is.

If the board is white, it doesn't look overexposed to me.

There's not too much contrast; if anything, the out-of-focus background is a bit busy for this sort of very simple image. In particular, the white card (?) just at the tip of the drip is distracting for me.

If you're trying to show that this is a surfboard in the process of construction, I think you need more context. (Note that this could be provided by other pictures if this is a part of a photo essay.)

If you're trying to show the shape of the drip and contrast it with the shape of the tip of the board, I think you need to go in quite a bit closer. The drip is currently not strong enough to carry the image.

Hope that helps.
