Hi All. I am new here and thought I would jump right in. and by way of figuring out the rope here I thought I would post one of my first Macro shots. Any thoughts or critiques or tips very welcome. I look forward to learning (and hopefully contributing) lots here.

Cheers, Steve

he gets a bit lost in the greenery, I think I would like to see just a bit more of him in focus.

welcome to the forum, thanks for sharing...I look forward to seeing more from you!

Default Thanks

Thanks etexjess,

I agree with the focus. I've found focusing with the 100 macro to be really tight. I have a couple other shots of the little guy that were more open, but it was not as sharp overall. Really appreciate the feedback, and happy to be here. Thanks.

Steve.

Welcome and thanks for taking the time (and effort) of sharing with us.

I have to agree that the green on green tends to make this little guy disappear, but you are certainly on the right track with what you are trying.

Was the lens wide open for this shot? Sometimes you may want to stop down one stop to get more of the object in focus. Of course, you also have to be aware of how deep the focus will extend, and if it will do more damage than good. Choices, choices, choices.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work as well.

Thanks Markel235. Much appreciated. I posted some more of those shots on flicker, Flickr: ThruMyLeftEye's Photostream And tried to work around what I was seeing at the time. To little of him in sharp focus, and too much lost in the bokeh. Thanks for the recommendation on stoping the lens down a bit. It was wide open at the time.

Much appreciated. Steve.
