Default Rose using nifty fifty

I've recently purchased a Canon 600D and am learning to use it. This taken with 50mm f/1.8 @ f/1.8, 1/640, iso 100, set on timer value. I wonder if it looks almost too sharp? Almost artificial? Thanks for your comments.

Hi - it's not too sharp, in fact just the opposite and could use more DOF in my opinion - f1.8 is a very narrow DOF ... I think what you're seeing is that the light is too harsh ... so those are two things to work on I think -- using a smaller aperture (higher number) and softer lighting ...

Thank you. I did take a series of shots at different aperture settings. This was the only one on shutter priority, so I'll process some of those and compare. It was natural lighting in the evening. Thanks again.
