Hi, this is my 1st post and I'm quite new to photography. Just wanted some general feedback on this photo. Is there anything I could have changed that would have made it look better e.g. camera settings, composition or processing? I desaturated the background using GIMP.

Welcome to DPS. I think it's a bit soft; there's something on the bottom and top right hand corners--maybe some residuals from desaturating the background. There's also something hanging above the flowers: I'd try to clone it out. Just my 2 cents. TFWIW.
