B&W Dandelion Snow

Here is my b&w picture of a dandelion before it let all its seeds go.

Aperture: f/ 5.6

Flash: None

I have a couple of questions:
1. Do you think this is too dark?
3. Are you able to tell what it is if you didn't see the title?
2. Any over all advice? I know this is very vague question but I started doing more macro with my zoom lens before I buy a macro lens.

Thank you in advance for all your advice. I am still debating if I want a telephoto lens or a macro lens. So hopefully I can find out which type of photography I want to get into more.

The exposure looks OK.
I can tell what it is.

I feel the composition is a bit centred.

Nothing looks in focus to me -- the whites seem blown out and the rest really dark. Something like this would benefit from some better lighting conditions ...
