Default Neighborhood gardens 1

This weekend, I wanted to try some macro/close-up photography... I picked up my camera and the gear and took some nice pics of flowers in my neighborhood. Some pics came out really well... here is one of my favorites. I did crop the image a little bit and did some post processing. Please critique my shot on composition and technicality.

I don't really see a connection between the green foliage and the Purple flower, it is kind of disorienting actually. Maybe a bit of angle would help.
