I don't find the deep shadows distracting, but the out of focus section on the lower left is a little distracting. The narrow dof field is fine in the back, but right out front it grabs your attention.
I like how you caught the frayed threads on the shoelaces. |

Thank you, Linda/Sarah (which is it, BTW? Sorry to call you by the wrong name if I have!!!!!!!). Because of the extension tube (I assume I lost a lot of light with it on), I couldn't use a narrower aperture for more depth-of-field. I tried putting my camera more paralell to the part I was photographing, but it didn't have the same feeling to it. I was thrilled with the fraying detail the lens captured with the tube, though. The deep, deep shadows "worried" me,
