Default Flower Macro the old way...

Hi, I took this shot using an old manual 50mm lens of Olympus and cropped it to appear like a macro shot. I like this but the colors seems to be dull and I feel like it could still be improved? Do you think there is a better way to compose or angle the shot? Is the color of the flower lively enough? As always, thanks for the help!

The color is true. It is the lighting that is causing you to see it as dull as it is fairly flat lighting and as such the texture and shadows are suppressed. Lighting macro is a lot more important than it is for portraiture. Get a good two light set up and then experiment with placement and output. See if you can find the correct spots and power for making the flower pop! out of the scene at you.
