Definately not more foreground. With a soliatry drop it gives it a sense of isolation. I also like the diagonal the stem creates through the picture.
I'm no expert and haven't tried this but I am just suggesting it because I read about it yesterday. To really make the water drops sparkle try a flashlight. The before shot in the book was great but with the flashlight it was amazing what a little sparkle can do. Not a great book but better than most I have read. You're right in saying that a direct light source would provide more sparkle to water drops. Somehow I hate using the flash on my camera!
Had even blogged about it. Still will try it out using a flash or some additional lighting. Thanks for your feedback.
