Arrow Pink Lady Flower

I grabbed this shot this evening. I'm so happy to see these girls blooming; I was afraid the drought and scorching heat this summer would be too much for them. But, just as always, when I've finally given up on them, they appear in mid-August every year. Their foliage is the first to show in early March, and then dies off completely by late May.

Please share your thoughts on composition, light and PP. Thanks!

Default Just my opinion

The flower is lovely. If I were you I would have taken the photo horizontally rather than vertically and filled the frame with the flower. The background doesn't really do anything for the flower. Just the opinion of someone who has a lot to learn about photography herself.

It looks to me like it was taken horizontally. I would've liked to see the complete flower in focus, and a lot less grass.

Thank you for your thoughts, guys! Here are a few more 2 more shots I have taken, both with more flower and less background, and one that I did a b/w conversion of. Perhaps one of them will be more to your liking. The whole set can be seen on my flikr page (linked below in my signature) and my favorites are on my 500px page (also linked).
