Default Rose w/ Water Drops - Ringling Museum

Hi guys, new to the forums here, after coming from *another* forum....been shooting about 3 months now, this is from my set this past weekend at the Ringling Museum of Art grounds in Sarasota, Florida....this is my favorite of the day, and much better than my initial attempts at flowers (seem to be shooting alot of those starting out lol).

Side note, this was my first attempt at manual focus (which I did all day, for all shots I believe). I'm MUCH happier with sharpness at the appropriate points.

Thoughts or comments?

Hi,

I like the photograph to some extent, but what I'd change is the composition. I'd either go all in, fill the frame or go out a bit more and showcase the entire flower. The flower parts that are cut kind of leave me asking for more. Sharpness and color are good.

I think you're fine clipping the top edge of the flower. That looks intentional and the composition works for me. The bottom and camera right edges look unintentional and distract me a bit.

It also looks like there's a bit of plant matter on one of the bottom leaves. It's pretty minor, but easy to correct.

Your exposure, focus, and depth of field are very good, and as I said, your composition is very close. As it is, this is a nice picture, but with just a few minor changes it will be very nice.

Thanks guys! Yeah, it's wierd how I didn't even notice the composition issues before I posted...this set was unlike most of my other shots though, it more or less came out of the camera this way, very very little PP, so didn't take the normal time....I'll go back and play with it some more.
