Macro Flower by J.Feinberg Photography, on Flickr

Aperture f/3.2
Focal Length 4.2 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias 0 EV

I enjoy macro even with my fixed-lens. What are some of your critiques about the photo? What can I improve on?

Technical:

Focus looks ok, however some of the petals appear to be slightly overexposed (blown out without any detail).

Aesthetics:
I don't feel you are close enough to the flower itself as it is lost in all the greenery.
The blown highlights in the foliage draw my eye away from the flower itself.
Try a cropping, to focus attention on the flower, along with a strong vignet or cloning to darken the distracting highlights.

The yellow stamens tend to get lost in the white petals.
If you have a chance to re shoot this flower try shooting from a different POV so the stamens stand out from the dark background.
