Default Fishing Ancor Rope

Fishing Rope

I go on a fishing trip yearly with my dad and he brings along his Point and Shoot FujiFilm F650 to take all the "mandatory" photos. I steal it every now and then and shoot a couple pictures of the river, banks of said river (200 foot cliffes covered in with a dense layer of trees), and the various odds and ends laying around the little flat bottomed boat.

This was just the rope that tied the anchor (A chunk of those large metal beams) to the side of the boat.

Im 16 and just starting into QUITE an intrest in photography, and any critisism would be GREATLY appreciated.
What kind of focusing would have been better?
Different angle?
Lighting?
Again, anything would be really helpful!!

I think you've done a fine job here especially for a beginner. Your focus and framing seem right on perhaps not cutting off the lower left loop may have been preferrable. My only other criticism - and it's not your fault - is that the new nylon rope does not work as well in a photograph like this compared to a weathered looking sisal type rope. Well done!
