Default A sun flower shot

Hello, This is my first post in this forum from my first ever digital camera. I am not a very good photographer and really the urge to learn good photography started from this forum. I am not sure if this picture is even worth posting here. But I will do it anyways

Please give me tips and any thing you think I should know.

I like to take pictures of flowers and landscapes and want to know how to improve myself.

This is an unprocessed shot

Nice shot, you've got decent lighting on the flower although the colours look a little flat. Try tweaking the levels in Photoshop (if you have it), or boosting the saturation a little in whatever program you do have. The brown thing behind the flower on the right and then the space behind it are a little distracting. I would try cropping the right hand side to the edge of the brown thing a bit and see what effect that has.

Thanks NgaiHill for your feedback.

That brown thing was an old rusty pipe that was lying on my roof with the flowers. I didn't remove it from there because I thought it would good on an otherwise plain shot. But, now I think you are right. It kind of takes the attention away from the flower. And for your tip about the colours and saturation I will process the photo to see how it looks.

Thanks once again
