Default Composition, Color, Focus - Flower form Madagascar

Hi folks,

I know it is not exactly a macro but a close-up. Main questions: Does the square crop work for you? Are the colors over-saturated? Where would you have focused?

About the crop: I know about the basic composition rules but there was too much clutter around the flower which I wanted to lose. I had to "shoot" this one through the twigs and leaves and played with the setup of the camera for quite some time.

About the focus: It is on the third petal on the left. Greatest distance from the camera and I wanted to give it a bit of depth even though aperture was at 20.

Any points you would adjust in PP?

This is one of my first attempts with a tripod and it sure makes a difference, I think :-). So much more time to look at the image and make all the adjustments. Thanks to the experts at DPS who evangelize about tripods.

Many thanks in advance,

/p

I like it - pretty flower -- try focusing more on the front petals next time - usually it's better to have the stuff in front in focus because that's where our eyes go .. you did a good job though ... pretty colors.
