Default Buttercup - Good enough?

Buttercup

Any feedback about composure, color, focus or even ideas would be appreciated. What might have you done different?
I'm thinking of entering it in a macro contest. Is it good enough to show?

Canon T2i w/ 100mm macro lens
Exposure (1/800)
ISO 400
Aperture f/7.1

I feel the subject is too small...for a still life macro...

I agree - the subject is too small so there's too much negative space with nothing happening ... try again and play with angles and lighting ...
