Well your bokeh is really just blown out highlights. Try not to get any bright areas in your backgrounds of any size as they instantly pull the eye away from the subject. You will need a extension tube to get bokeh with your set up. They are not that expensive and will let you focus much closer with the disadvantage that your DOF will be pretty shallow. For a leaf this will not be too much of a challenge but if you try it on a insect or bird if they will sit still long enough for you getting the whole subject in focus will be a major challenge.
