not exactly macro

i took it at our quarters in the hospital..
blown it a bit and some post processing.. think i reduced the contrast.. do u guys think i shud increase the contrast?? any other suggestions.. I did it with 55-250mm lens.. dont have a macro lens...

What I personally like about this are the colors and the rule of thirds placement of the dark center of the flower. After trying a few things in PSE, I do find that I like it better with both a little more brightness and contrast; basically a levels adjustment that moves the highlight side of the histogram closer to the right edge. That seemed to also give the colors a little more punch at least on my monitor.

One thing that is a little distracting is that the stamens are out of focus, but without removing the flower behind it, trying to get better depth of focus by stopping down maybe to f/16 and compensating by increasing ISO to 800 would probably have sharpened the focus on that background and made it too distracting.

Anyway I like it, and you suggestion of increasing contrast and brightness a little, perhaps.
