Smile Product shot

I've very recently began my first attempts at product photography... always eager to learn, I would be happy to hear constructive criticism.

-Is the focus good?
-Is the placement of the product good?
-Is the placement of background objects good?
-Is the exposure okay?
-Are the shadows beneath the earbuds distracting?

Thank you very much.

Hi Carly.

1. Your focus is very shallow, which does help highlight the earbuds and keeps the viewer form being distracted by the mess wires can create. Be careful when you do a product shot close up; you want to make sure any dust (in the crevice between the white and blue) does not show up, too.

2. Placement looks fine.

3. Background looks okay, but that fuzzy brown thing looks out of place.

4. Maybe a bit dark. What is your exif?

5. Personally, I like the shadows. Gives it a feeling of depth and keeps the object from "floating".

The ear buds look dirty to me. I don't know if it's dust or maybe just the color of the speaker plate???

They also look slightly out of focus to me. I would think you'd want the ear buds themselves to be in sharp focus no??

I like the shadow

Lastly, and this is just me and I know I'm a bit odd about this but I really don't like the look of messy or non neat wires. I would have tried to lay the wires our more neatly.... but again.... that's just my own little quirck

Thanks very much for the feedback! I'll take these things into account for the future.. particularly the dust. I can't believe I didn't notice how dirty these were!
