Default Macro shot

March 21,2011

Spring is nearly here in UK and I dont want to miss the chance to shoot before it will go away.hehe.

I would like you to help me improve my skill in macro photography by your feedbacks and advices. I want to know if how is my focus, colour, composition, exposure, etc and other things I need to improve in this aspect. Thank you.

Aperture: f/8
Shutter: 1/100
ISO: 100
WHITE BALANCE: manual
FLASH: not fired
focal length: 70mm

Maybe adjust the exposure a little higher. But, great job.

I might also try and include the stem so it doesnt appear to floating in space

Wind thanks The stem was actually included but it was a bit dark.

Nice color and detail on the back leaves! I would try to lighten up parts of the flower that are dark in the picture -- the center, and the stem. Seems like the light source is behind the flower, so maybe shooting with the light source in front of the flower would give more detail to these sections (or using a reflector/flash/etc for fill light?). I do like the black background though...

Though i really love how the black background hands over all the focus to the flower, I agree with rengles in that I would focus more on the center of the flower. I think the "arms" (no idea what the tech. term is x3) where the pollen is located is very important in a flower macro, and the petals merely a very pretty backdrop. But I love how the backlighting highlights the small details in the petals. very pretty
