Hey everybody - I am new to the forum, as well as to photography. I took this shot yesterday and would really appreciate some feedback - I am not sure what to look for in terms of composition and settings but any comments welcome!
![]() I have a Lumix G2 and I bought a macro lens attachment which means I can't use the auto focus with it - good opportunity to practice my manual focus I guess! Thanks!! Last edited by Mazmataz; 02-22-2011 at 05:54 PM. Reason: typing errors |

It seems you have saturated the colours a lot, so much so, that there are yellow patches on the petals, if they weren't already there.
Have you blurred the patches manually, or did you use a large F number? I would have loved to see the entire subject in focus. right now that back end of the flower is blurred. All in all, it looks like an appealing capture. Cheers. P.S. going forward, please post the EXIF too. |

Thanks for the feedback - the blurred background was as the photo was taken as I used a large f no - 4.1. and it was due to the macro magnification lens that I attached to my normal wide angle lens. I didn't alter the colour saturation at all - the only thing I did on photoshop was use the Unsharp Mask tool to sharpen the edges - would that have had an impact on the colour saturation?
What is the EXIF (sorry - very new to all this) Appreciate the feedback - thank you! |

EXIF would be the camera settings you used for ur shot.
They would primarily be Aperture (F number), Shutter speed (Tv) and ISO, in short, the exposure triangle. These will help people understand the lighting conditions, DOF, exposure in general and help them critique u better.
