The first thing you did wrong was not read the rules for the critique forum.

1st Pic is highly underexposed, and the second pic has huge amount of noise.
Please provide the EXIF info and the points you want Critique.
Manual and autofocus is a very subjective thing, and depends on the photographer and the shot being taken.
Happy Clicking.
Cheers.

I tend to go with manual focus any time I have the camera on a tripod. I don't want the lens doing any autofocus dance after I have setup my shot. If I am on the move and taking handheld shots, I will rely more on the autofocus options. With a macro like yours, I would probably switch to the spot AF and take advantage of the LCD's magnification functions, so that I could zero in on what I wanted in focus.

The use of focus, or the lack there of, is a great artistic tool. Its proper use is one of the things that can separate a piece of art from a snapshot. But, I'm one of those people that think that at least one thing in the shot should be in focus to make the whole work. Otherwise, it just looks like the photographer blew it.

I will go with sourav - there is too much noise in pic 2 and as for pic 1 I find it a little off focus and I would focus on the flower or crop close to it.
