I like the color version. Would be nice to have the DOF a bit more large. Maybe increase the f-stop some/shrink the aperture. The bud below the flower is soft. I thought it dulled the photo some. Maybe this is not possibe as the photo is already dark. I am no macro expert myself and am just learning. I bought a Nikon 60mm f/2.8 AF-S last week and am just getting started. Lighting is the real key to getting that professional, polished look. At least for me, because my indoor lighting is quite poor.
Also seems a bit underexposed or better lighting would enhance contrast in shadows. Makes it more vivd and real to me. I try to get things to look like they do to my eye. Beautiful photos. Darn...looking again I can't decide which I like better. I think it means they are both really nice. Last edited by Hammonje; 02-04-2011 at 03:27 PM. |

hmmmm!! I like them both, for different reasons.
I love the color in the first-that pink is beautiful! But the 2nd emphasizes the ruffled shape, also nice. The color balance seems a bit off in the first, though. Maybe it's my monitor, but it seems a bit yellowy/peachy. Maybe just needs to be brightened a bit?? I'd also like it better without the bud on the lower right corner; it's a bit distracting. Anyway, beautiful pair of shots!
