Arrow water macro?

water

ok guys, this is my first attempt at a macro(?) was taken while i was on a trip to yellowstone.
around 2 oclock in the afternoon on a slightly overcast day. no flash. personally i like it i just feel that there could be more.. am i too close and not picking up enough of the surroundings?

i moderately edited it to increase contrast and saturation... {before i had photoshop)

any advice? anything will help me improve.

i feel it is extremely busy, and i can't really tell that it is water right off the bat.

Default Too far out

I think that the image was taken too far away from the subject (the water) and i also think that the water could do with being more in focus. At the moment, the background seems to be more clear than the water.

i like the colors but they lack vibrancy. and katia is right, the picture looked busy you can't seem to focus on one spot. maybe if you changed the angle from the top to the side..?
