Please tell me what you thing about this in general.
Do you find it attractive?
Does the shot flatter the flower?

As an orchid, I think I'm qualified to say that this shot does indeed flatter the flower, and as a flower, I think that virtually every flower-shot is flattering; that is just my personal bias.
That said, I think the image could benefit from separation of the subject from the background so that it stands out and grabs the full and undivided attention of the viewer. This would have probably required a rearrangement of the other flora in the photo.
In addition, I'm becoming less clear on what a "macro" is in this forum. I take it to mean that the lens puts an image on the sensor of the camera that is the same size as the subject; i.e., a 1:1 ratio. A macro and a "close-up" would not necessarily be the same thing, at least in my vocabulary. But maybe it is the same on this website. Can someone enlighten me on this semantic question?
Here we have an image shot with a good 50 mm lens, capable of f/1.8, and I assume that aperture was selected to try to produce enough bokeh to separate the subject from the background. It just wasn't quite enough, I think, but a good attempt and a very nice shot; one I would like to have in my portfolio actually.
Anyway, as an orchid, I do find your image to bee attractive (Freudian pun intended).
