Default First steps into Macro Photography

Hi.

I just went out around my town for some hiking last weekend. I was carrying my Canon Powershot SX130 and, since I was practicing some MP, a few days ago, I wanted to try my first wild Macro pic. So here is it:

Spines Of Nature

EXIF:

Camera: Canon
Model: Canon PowerShot SX130 IS
ISO: 100
Exposure: 1/200 s
Aperture: 3.4
focal lenght: 5mm
Flash : No

I know very well that my camera is not a high quality DSLR, but I'm still learning and maybe when I master the principles of advanced photography, I will get a DSLR.

So what do you think guys? I have still too much to learn but I'm working on it =).

I am not speaking from experience as I am just beginning too, but I do have some thoughts. I think I would have focussed on the center of the thorn cluster. It looks like you focussed on the back thorn. Also I think I would crop some of the right side. I do like the blurred branch on the left side.
