Default Cookie Kisses

Hi~ My first post here... new to photography and am looking forward to learning a lot from this site!

I was trying to capture the idea of uniqueness within likeness with this image. But when I look at it something just seems off. I appreciate any input you may have on what could've made this shot say what I was thinking. Thank you!

What seems 'off' to me is the WB. This photo seems very yellow. You may want to play with a levels adjustment to correct colors.

I agree with the white balance comment. Additionally, I find the large, out of focus cookie in the front, just right of center, distracting. If you have the chance to try again, you might want to consider one of two things . . either remove the entire front row so you have a bit of empty space in the front, or try deepening your DoF a little bit so that most of the front and second rows are in focus.

I also think the WB is off, and I think it is too dark (the sugar is not sparkling as much as I would like it to. A levels adjustment could go a long way to improving the image.

I also agree that the cookie in the foreground is distracting. I realized that it was because the cookie in focus looks like every other cookie. I then thought that this composition could be really interesting if the cookie in focus could be really different....like having an M&M on it rather than a kiss, or some other embellishment. Something to make it stand out from the crowd. That would then make the foreground cookies in their out of focus mode make sense.

I really like the candy idea to help the cookie stand out. Thanks for the tips~ I will re-try next time I bake those cookies ;-)
