Default neon like color

hello, i am new to macro and while taking shots of certain flowers, i noticed that with colors such as red and orange, the color shows up almost neon looking. is there any way to tone this down without ruining the shot? this is an example of what i am talking about. i wanted to get the center of the flower and i am happy with that, but the orange color in the background is too bright. thanks for any suggestions.

Maybe not in camera, since it is showing the actual colours on the flower and the cast the bright colour creates on the surrounding objects (hope I made myself clear). You can easily do this in Photoshop, using the colour balance tool by dragging down the red slider for midtones and highlights sliders.

I don't use Lightroom myself, but I'm sure it has something equivalent. Google for "color correction using Lightroom" and you will get a ton of hits, like this one:

How to color correct with lightroom

Hope this helps.

Lightroom has something like it. It's not as surgical as Photoshop but it's very good.
