Default Reverse Mount 50mm 1.8

Hello...

Took this while reverse mounting the 50mm 1.8, used flash but I forgot which aperture was used and it won't be in the EXIF since it was reverse mounted.

Would love to get feedback because I am new to macro and everything looks great to me because it's like a new world! But more experienced eyes might have something to comment about lighting, composition etc.

Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks in advance.

Exposure 0.025 sec (1/40)
ISO Speed 200

If you're satisfied with the quality of this image, then OK. Why would you reverse a lens that's not optically designed to do so when you own a good dedicated macro lens?

I can see how that can be confusing since I posted something the day before using the dedicated macro lens...but actually the reason why I got that lens was because I was getting into macro after playing with the reverse mounted 50mm. i got the dedicated macro lens after i got my 50mm 1.8.

Having said that...I think I still would not write off the reverse mounted 50mm for some macro situations because it's a different focal length and a different minimum focus distance to my 100mm macro. The only thing is of course the inconvenience factor, and the fact that it's not the "right" way of using that lens. Just a beginner's 2 cents...

I like your picture with the reverse lens. But it is soft. If that's your intention, OK then, it has its use. There are optics that are perfectly suited for reversal and/or bellows work. Then you can achieve great sharpness at greater magnifications than 1:1.

Here's a link to an image I took with a view camera lens that's more than 50 years old. Note the setup for the shot shown in the first comment:
