Default DoF too Shallow?

Not sure if this technically qualifies as macro, but how do you find the DoF?

Wide enough to be interested but shallow enough to avoid potential distraction?

Is it worth cloning out the pie stand leg in the back ground or maybe the table cloth crease? If you had to look back up to see what I'm talking about prob not worth it.

Let me know.

Thanks

Great shot, and YUM!
I like the DOF here, my eye had a wander around the scene but came right back to the subject. I did notice the leg thing in the background but didn't find it too distracting.
Good lighting too.

The problem, though a tasty subject, is not the D0F which you have demonstrated as shallow in your closeup. A macro would be focused on the subject much closer than what you have in your photo. My problem is that even the focused portion is not really very sharp. The shooting angle bothers me and for a good picture, the foreground is too prominent and out of focus. If you want to shoot macro, get closer and into your subject. This lens is very sharp wide open, therefore, a portion of the image should be tack sharp.
