Default Yellow flower, black background

All, would appreciate your feedback. Should I have decreased DOF to have the whole flower in focus? Shot was taken against a dark rock and then I increased black points to get it entirely black. Otherwise slight modifications in exposure and contrast.

EXIF:
ISO 400
f/5.6
s 1/12500
135 mm focal length

Cheers

I think an increased depth of field would have improved this, as you alluded to. To do this, you would have had to reduce the size of the aperture by going to a higher f/number. You don't say whether you were using flash or not, so assuming not, if you had a tripod or monopod, you could have gone down one or two stops in exposure and up to maybe f/11. That would have improved your DOF and ability to get more of the petals sharply focused.

I love the yellow against black and also the rule-of-thirds placement of the subject.
